Countries: Iran. An ABU Member country

Iran is a country located in the Middle east, which borders with Iraq, Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
This is one of the biggest countries in the middle east, and is also the most populous country in all the region with 70 millions of citicens.

National Broadcaster

The iranian national broadcaster is IRIB (Islamic Republic of Iran National Broadcaster). The company was launched in 1996 under the name of NIRT (National Iranian Radio and Television). The first broadcasts of the TV Station were related to national and institutional events. One year later, the channel began broadcasting regularly.
The iranian television channel was known, during that era, by the impulse given to the cultural, artistic, and musical programming. In fact, one of the most remembered programs was Rangarang, an entertainment musical show which gave the chance of turning into famous superstar to singers such as, Dariush, Googoosh, Mahasti, Hayedeh, Shohreh Solati, Shahram Solati and Leila Forouhar.
After the 1979 Revolution and the fall of the Shah, Reza Pahlevi, the network changed its name to the current one.
The iranian musical industry suffered a sharp decay and some of the most famous performers had to leave the country and during that era, the religious content turned into one of the pillars of the network.
From the last 1990's the iranian music industry has been slowly recovering.

Entertainment Industry.

Before the revolution, Iran had a booming music scene which dissapeared after the 1979 revolution.
With some limitations, the iranian music industry has recovered significantly due to the efforts of the government to create a decent pop music that could compete with the Iranian music labels of the former era, that after the revolution, moved to Los Angeles, creating a strong market in the iranian diaspora.

Iran has got some Domestic singers that could be suitable to represent Iran in the ABU TV Song Festival.

The Iranian broadcaster has taken part in the two editions of the ABU Radio Song Festival, which unlike the ABU TV Song Festival is an event aimed to showcase unsigned or amateur musicians.
In 2014, the broadcaster sent two entries to the festival.

2012: Man Brothers - Iran.
2014: Moghtada Garbavi - Bezar asheghet bemunam
2014: Peyman Talebi - Wave of the infinity

Venues

If Iran was interested in hosting the ABU TV Song Festival or the ABU Radio Song festival, the Milad Tower Conference Centre, with more than 2000 seats, would be a good venue for the show.
